Asset Management

Friðrik Magnússon
Head of Asset Management
Fridrik has a long experience in asset management in Iceland. He started his career at Islandsbanki Asset Management in 1994 where he served as a fund manager and later as a portfolio manager. Fridrik was the Managing Director of Islandsbanki Mutual Funds until 2005 when he joined Islandsbanki Private Banking. Fridrik holds a MBA degree from University of Reykjavik (2010) and Cand. oecon degree from University of Iceland (1994).

Corporate Finance

Andri Ingason
Andri Ingason is a specialist in the Corporate Finance team at Arctica Finance. Previously he worked at Landsbankinn where he worked in Personal Banking. Andri holds a BSc in Business Administration with a minor in Law from Reykjavík University and is a certified securities broker in Iceland. Andri was on the board of several student organisations and held key positions within them. He was the Treasurer of the Business and Economics Student's Association at Reykjavík University and Fundraising Manager of the National Union for Icelandic Students.
Einar Örn Hannesson
Einar Örn Hannesson is a specialist in the Corporate Finance team at Arctica Finance. Previously he worked at Marakon in London where he worked with boards and senior executives in the financial services, energy and consumer sectors. Before that he worked at Landsbanki‘s special situations and corporate restructuring team. Einar has a Masters in Finance from London Business School and a B.Sc. in Financial Engineering from Reykjavik University.
Ellert Guðjónsson
Ellert Guðjónsson has been working in the financial market in Iceland since 2004. He joined Arctica Finance's Corporate Finance in November 2015 following Arctica‘s acquisition of H.F. Securities. Previously Ellert worked for the Winding up Board of LBI hf. (f.k.a. Landsbanki Íslands hf.), Kaupthing Bank and later Arion Bank as well as working in corporate advisory for Deloitte in both Iceland and Copenhagen. Ellert holds a B.Sc. degree in Economics from the University of Iceland and a M.Sc. degree in Corporate Finance from the University of Reykjavík. He is a certified securities broker in Iceland since 2009.
Grétar Brynjólfsson
Grétar is a specialist in the Corporate Finance team at Arctica Finance. Previously he worked in Corporate Finance at GAMMA Capital Management and before that in Corporate Advisory at PwC. Grétar has a Masters in Finance from Lund University in Sweden and B.SC. in Financial Engineering from Reykjavik University. He holds a certified brokerage license in Iceland.
Gunnar Jóhannesson
Gunnar Jóhannesson is a managing director and one of the founders of Arctica Finance. Gunnar began working for Landsbankinn‘s Corporate Advisory in 2004, prior to that he was a business consultant and a partner at IMG and Deloitte. Gunnar has been involved in a substantial amount of projects involving the acquisition or sale of companies. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iceland, M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Denmark's Tekniske Universitet and is a certified securities broker in Iceland.
Indriði Sigurðsson
Indriði Sigurðsson joined Arctica Finance's Corporate Finance in 2015. Previously he had been playing 16 years as a professional footballer in Norway and Belgium. He holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration and Management from the University College of Southeast Norway and is currently finishing an MBA with specialism in Finance at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Business School.
Jón Haukur Jónsson
Jón Haukur Jónsson joined Arctica Finance's Corporate Finance team in October 2017. Jón Haukur previously worked on business development at an Icelandic tech-company and prior to that in the Retail Banking division at Arion Bank. Jón Haukur has a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration with emphasis on Finance from Reykjavík University, where he also worked as an assistant tutor in company valuation.
Jón Þór Sigurvinsson
Head of Corporate Finance
Jón Þór Sigurvinsson is a managing director and one of the founders of Arctica Finance. Jón Þór was employed by Landsbankinn‘s Corporate Advisory from 2007-2008. From 2005-2007, Jón Þór was employed by the Investment firm Straumborg, where he was responsible for the firm‘s investments in the energy sector in addition to managing proprietary trading. From 2004-2005 Jón Þór was employed by the National Nuclear Energy Association of France, CEA. Jón Þór holds M.Sc. degree in Energy Engineering from Université Joseph Fourier in France, B.Sc. in Mechanical- and Industrial Engineering from the University of Iceland and B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Iceland and is a certified securities broker in Iceland.

Capital Markets

Agnar Hansson
Head of Capital Markets
Agnar Hansson is the Head of Capital Markets. Agnar has an extensive experience in the financial markets since 1993. He was the head of economic research at Islandsbanki and the Deputy Director of Capital Markets at FBA. In 2004 he joined Kaupþing Bank as the project manager for the bank structured covered bonds program. In 2006 Agnar took over the post of managing director at Icebank's Treasury and the year after he became the bank's CEO. Before Agnar was appointed the head of Capital Markets at Arctica, he held a similar position with HF Securities. During his time at Islandsbanki/FBA Agnar also held a position as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Iceland and from 1999 to 2004 he was the Dean of the School of Business at Reykjavik University. Agnar holds a degree in natural sciences and economics (Cand. Scient. Oceon.) from Aarhus University in Denmark in addition to being a certified securities broker in the Icelandic market.
Birgir Haraldsson
Birgir Haraldsson joined Capital Markets as a specialist in April 2019. Prior to Arctica Finance, Birgir worked as a macro strategist and co-founder of macro research firm Nightberg in New York. He also held similar positions in the headquarters of the American investment bank Jefferies Financial Group and at macro hedge funds Caxton Associates in New York and Harness Investment Group in Geneva. Birgir holds a M.A. degree in Economics from New York University and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Iceland where he earned his degree partially at Bocconi University in Milan as an exchange student.
Björn Öder Ólason
Björn Öder Ólason is a broker in Capital Markets. Björn has worked with Borgun hf. from 2015 in parallel with his studies in various fields like, customer service, finance specialist and in treasury. Björn is also as an assistance teacher in the course Corprate Finance I at University of Iceland. Björn holds a B.Sc. in Buisness Administration from the University of Iceland and a M.Fin. degree from the same school. He is also a certified securities broker in Iceland.
Guðmundur Oddur Eiríksson
Guðmundur Oddur Eiríksson is a broker in Capital Markets. Before joining Arctica Finance, Guðmundur worked at Arion bank longside his studies. He has also worked as a Teaching Assistant at Reykjavik University. Guðmundur holds a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration from Reykjavik University.
Ægir Birgisson
Ægir Birgisson joined Capital Markets at Arctica Finance in August 2018. Ægir has been working in the Icelandic financial markets since 1994, first in private banking at Islandsbanki Securities and later as securities broker and director at The Icelandic Investment Bank (FBA), Straumur Investment Bank and VBS Investment Bank. From 2011 to 2018 Ægir worked independently in proprietary trading and consulting. Ægir holds a B.S. degree in finance from University of S-Alabama, MBA from Reykjavík University and is certified securities broker in the Icelandic securities market.

Stefán Þór Bjarnason
CEO
Stefán Þór Bjarnason is the CEO and one of the founders of Arctica Finance. Stefán was the senior manager of Landsbankinn‘s Corporate Advisory in Iceland and worked for Landsbankinn from 1999 to October 2008. During that time Stefán led, or participated in, most of the major corporate advisory projects the bank was involved in. Stefán graduated with a Cand. Jur from the University of Iceland in 1999, Admitted to the Bar as a District Court Attorney in Iceland in 2001 and is a certified securities broker in Iceland and the UK.
Bjarni Þórður Bjarnason
Assistant CEO
Bjarni Þórður Bjarnason, Deputy CEO, is one of the founders of Arctica Finance. From June 2003 to October 2008 Bjarni was the Head of Landsbanki‘s Corporate Finance department. Prior to starting at Landsbanki Bjarni was the Assistant Head of Búnaðarbanki‘s Corporate Finance and prior to that in a similar position at Gilding investment fund. Earlier in his career Bjarni was a member of Kaupþing‘s Corporate Finance team. In recent years Bjarni has offered advice to many Icelandic and international investors in M&A and capital raising. Bjarni has a C.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Iceland and a MBA from the Southern Methodist University in Texas, USA.
Ólafur Þór Finsen
General Counsel / Compliance Officer
Ólafur Þór Finsen is the general counsel and one of the founders of Arctica Finance. Ólafur has over a 10 year experience in the financial industry, first in Búnaðarbanki Íslands hf. from 1999 and later Landsbanki Íslands hf. from June 2003. During this time Ólafur has participated in many of the major Icelandic corporate advisory projects. Ólafur graduated with a Cand. Jur from the University of Iceland in 1998 and is a certified securities broker in Iceland.
Berglind Gretarsdóttir
Reception and office management
Berglind Gretarsdóttir has a BS degree from California State University Long Beach in Operational Management. Berglind worked at Íslandsbanki 1989-2007 as a department manager in Operations and in Accounting. Berglind was an employee at Saga Investment bank from 2009-2011. Berglind also attended design and art classes at the Industrial College of Hafnarfjörður during the years 2007-2009.
